Enhancing agricultural sprayer gearbox efficiency and lifecycle through dual spiral spring and hydraulic damper integration: comparative study with conventional systems

Abstract Torsional vibrations in agricultural sprayer gearboxes remain a critical challenge, leading to mechanical wear, reduced operational efficiency, and frequent failures. This study proposes an innovative dual spiral spring and rotary hydraulic damper system to address these issues. The system was designed to absorb torsional forces efficiently while dissipating vibration energy, significantly improving the performance and lifecycle of gearbox components. The proposed system was analyzed using a finite element approach in Ansys Workbench, focusing on stress distribution, deformation, and fatigue life under dynamic loading conditions. Comparative analysis with conventional damping systems revealed a 35% increase in fatigue life, a 28% reduction in deformation, and a 20% improvement in operational efficiency. The integration of advanced damping mechanisms presents a cost-effective and reliable solution for mitigating torsional vibrations in agricultural machinery, ensuring enhanced durability and performance. The presented results are derived through finite element simulations, with planned experimental validation and prototyping forming part of the future work.
