Plasmon-induced transparency with tunable bandwidth in a monolayer black phosphorus metasurface

Abstract In this paper, we propose a monolayer black phosphorus (MBP) metasurface that possesses the interesting plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect with its bandwidth manipulable by the polarization state of incident light. The PIT effect in the proposed MBP metasurface is generated from bright-bright mode coupling between two MBP antennas. The tunable bandwidth of the PIT effect is attributed to the orthogonal arrangement of crystal directions in two MBP antennas. And the working mechanism of the polarization controlling PIT bandwidth is the frequency shift of different bright modes induced by polarization change of incident light. By investigating the group delay and the carrier concentration dependent spectra of the proposed metasurface, we acquired comparable results as commonly reported PIT effect and confirmed the great potentials of the proposed metasurface in areas of slow light and plasmonic sensing.
