Wide Tri-Band Metamaterial Absorber For C, X, Ku, And K Band Applications

A wide triple-band metamaterial absorber with a broad absorption bandwidth is presented in this article. The absorber provides greater than 90% absorptivity in the bands of 7.02 to 15.01 GHz, 15.96 to 17.68 GHz, and 20.08 to 21.73 GHz with a wide bandwidth of 7.99 GHz, 7.72 GHz, and 1.062 GHz respectively. The designed absorber is insensitive to polarization and angularly stable till 30° for both Transverse Electric and Magnetic modes of polarization. The periodicity of the absorber is 0.514λ<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</inf> where the wavelength corresponding to the lower cut-off frequency is denoted by λ<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</inf>. The thickness of the absorber is 0.122λ<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</inf>. The proposed absorber is wideband and finds applications in the C, X, Cu, and Ka bands.
