Wood-Derived Materials for Lithium-Based Batteries: Advances and Perspectives
In the context of growing global energy demand and raising awareness of enviornment, high-performance lithium-based batteries have become a research hotspot in the development of energy storage. Wood-based materials and derivatives, owing to their inherent environmental friendliness, tunable surface properties, and hierarchical porous architectures, have been extensively utilized in lithium battery devices, including electrodes, separators, binders, and electrolytes. In general, typical modification strategies involve selective components removal, precise structure control, and integration with micro/nano active units. This review highlights the advanced research progress in wood-based lithium battery, analyzing functional utilization of the intrinsic structural characteristics and three fundamental components (cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin) as well as focusing on their modification methods and performance optimization in energy storage devices.
