TRATAMENTO ENDODÔNTICO EM DENTES PERMANENTES AVULSIONADOS PÓS TRAUMA: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA E PROTOCOLOS CLÍNICOS
Introduction: Tooth avulsion is considered one of the most traumatic injuries to the face involving the dental arch, particularly affecting the upper central incisors. It primarily affects children and adolescents, with a higher prevalence in males between the ages of 7 and 17. Endodontic treatment, performed after reimplantation, plays a crucial role in the recovery of the avulsed tooth. Among the materials used in these cases, Calcium Hydroxide and MTA. Objective: Show the effect of endodontic therapy on teeth reimplanted after suffering avulsion, specify the methods and medications that are used in this type of treatment and clarify what clinical conduct the dental surgeon should have in these emergency cases.Materials andMethods: Based on scientific publications collected from 2012 to 2024, sourced from Google Scholar and journals such as Scielo, PubMed, the Journal of Investigative Dentistry, as well as information from the International Association of Dental Traumatology. Results: The results of the revision indicate that the success of the treatment is directly related to the extraoral time, the ways of the teeth’s conservation, the stage of radicular development and the adhesion to the established protocols by the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT). Conclusion: This literature review reveals that immediate reimplantation within 60 minutes results in a good prognosis. Endodontic treatment after reimplantation aims to prevent complications such as periodontal ligament necrosis. The key point highlighted in this article is the importance of proper tooth storage until reimplantation.
