A High‐Efficiency Broadband Dual Branch Rectifier With Simple Structure Based on Resonant Networks for Energy Harvesting
ABSTRACT This letter proposes a simple resonant network structure for expanding the frequency range of dual branch rectifiers and simplifying the design of impedance matching network. In the proposed structure, the resonant network is constructed based on the capacitive characteristic of diodes, which is used for resonance control and increase the flexibility of the design. Then a series transmission line is used for impedance matching. The proposed method does not require complex matching networks with additional lumped components, and reducing size, loss and the complexity of the design, while enabling the rectifier to operate efficiently within broadband at low power levels. For validation, a rectifier is designed and fabricated. Experimental results show that when the input power is 0 dBm, the proposed rectifier achieves a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of over 50% in the frequency range of 1.6–3.8 GHz, basically including the entire S‐band, indicating its suitability for ambient energy harvesting. And the PCE of the rectifier exceeds 50% within the input power range of −11~11 dBm (22 dB) at a frequency of 1.8 GHz.
