FIXED COMBINATIONS OF ANTIBIOTICS WITH ANTI-INFLAMMATORY SUBSTANCES: ADVANTAGES OF USE FOR THE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS

Treatment of animals with infectious diseases is associated with certain warnings and difficulties associated with determining the sensitivity of pathogens, progressive clinical signs, and acquired antimicrobial resistance to certain pathogens. Considering animal specifics administering veterinary medicinal products, there is a requirement for fixed combinations, which will reduce the frequency of dosing and duration of treatment. Veterinary medicinal products for injection containing antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory substances in fixed combinations were selected as the object of the study. An analysis of 12 fixed combinations of foreign and domestic veterinary medicinal products authorized in Ukraine was conducted. Data from the domestic register of veterinary medicinal products, information from the EMA website about authorized veterinary medicinal products in the EU, Short prоduct characteristics, and literature data were used for this purpose. As criteria for assessing advantages, the results of complex pharmaceutical, toxicological studies, and clinical trials preceding state marketing authorization for veterinary medicinal products and receiving approval for consumption in veterinary practice were analyzed. The analysis of the research revealed determined bacteria susceptibility considering the active substance, minimum inhibitory concentrations, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic characteristics, recommended doses, and dosage intervals for the studied antimicrobial veterinary medicinal products. Adverse reactions, warnings, and withdrawal period (for food-producing animals) are also described, which is important for prescribing veterinarians for treatment clinicaly affected animals, often in an acute phase and associated with complications. The results of the study of antimicrobial veterinary medicinal products in fixed combinations with anti-inflammatory substances allow veterinarians make quick decisions, even in critical situations, and to draw up clinical protocols for the treatment of various types of infectious diseases that pose a health threat to the food-producing and domestic animals. The conclusions formulated in the article should be taken into account by veterinary doctors for the practical use of fixed combinations, which confirm their safety and effectiveness and have an advantage over the use of antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory substances in individual veterinary medicinal products.
