A Decision Support System for Conflict Resolution: Interfacing a Genetic Algorithm with an Air Traffic Control Simulator
This paper details the interfacing of a genetic algorithm designed for conflict resolution with Escape, a real-time air traffic control simulator. The interface allows the GA to dynamically receive real-time flight tracks via the PyEscape component, process this information, resolve conflicts, and display the results on a separate interface. The system was tested through Human-in-the-Loop simulation experiments, with initial results showing its potential for achieving more efficient flights, including fuel savings and reduced deviations from planned routes.
