HIGH ORDER CORRECTION COEFFICIENTS BASED BALLISTIC SOLUTION FOR FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM

Fire control system (FCS) is the brain of any conventional weapon system which is used to estimate fire parameters such as elevation & azimuth, to engage the target. These fire parameters are estimated just before the launch of projectile after considering all measurable initial conditions. Accuracy of payload delivery to desired location depends on accuracy of predicted fire parameters, which primarily depends on the methodology of fire prediction adopted in Fire Prediction software (FPS) of FCS. FPS is generally based on ballistic solution provided by trajectory model (TM) directly or indirectly. Effects on the range for the various non-standard conditions are estimated using the correction coefficients generated by curve fit. In this paper, a comparative study has been carried out between the conventional first order curve fit as against higher order curve fit. The results obtained by this method, is further compared with six degree of freedom trajectory model.
