TRINIDAD. UN ESTUDIO DE LA GESTIÓN TURÍSTICA ACTUAL
The management of tourist destinations has been a research task at an international level for several years. The recognition by the actors, at the country level, of the complexity that arises within these territories and the interaction between their components is of vital importance to guarantee their sustainable management. This research arises as a proposal to improve the management processes of one of the Cuban destinations, and as part of the project: PS256LH-001-002: Development and Competitiveness of the Cuban tourism product. To diagnose the current state of tourism management in the Trinidad destination, different tools were used to obtain information, grouped into three fundamental stages. Among these tools are documentary review, interviews, surveys and focus groups with experts. The main results are shown through a situational analysis of the management of the territory under study, as well as the identification of current gaps in this process. Based on the study of the behavior of the competition, and in triangulation with the previous data, the proposal of 22 basic actions was made to improve the management of the destination.
