SCIENTIFIC BASIS OF ESTABLISHING FEEDING STANDARDS FOR PIGS OF DIFFERENT GENOTYPES IN FATTENING

Agricultural production in Ukraine, especially livestock products, does not fully meet the needs of the population and industry for raw materials. This is not only an important state-economic problem, but also a socio-political task, the solution of which is aimed at providing the population with stable food supplies.Obtaining and growing highly productive young animals, which is where any technology begins, is still quite a complex and the most responsible part of the overall chain of technological elements of pork production. It is possible to grow the most well-developed and healthy piglets, capable of providing high growth energy, not only through the rational use of breeding stock and sows, but also by creating appropriate conditions for feeding, caring for and keeping piglets during their development. The article presents the results of an analysis of the main existing approaches to determining the nutrient needs of fattening pigs that exist in world science and practice. It has been established that to date, the most justified is the factorial method (according to various functions of the body - for life support, for activity, fetal growth, milk production, for protein and fat deposition in the body, etc.) for determining the norms of nutrient requirements.Pig precision feeding (IPF) models under the European Horizon 2020 EU Feed-a-Gene program (2015-2020), on which 220 million euros of the EU budget were spent, have yet to demonstrate superiority over classical systems and be tested in terms of return on investment.A review of different systems for establishing pig fattening standards showed the advantages of the classical system (NRC (2012)) over others, and any combinations of requirements for individual physiological functions from different sources in different years of their establishment will only lead to absurdity.
