AVALIAÇÃO DA AUTOPERCEPÇÃO DA SAÚDE BUCAL NA UNIDADE DE SAÚDE DA FAMÍLIA OSVALDO PIANA EM PORTO VELHO - RO
Evaluating self-perception of oral health conditions helps to plan and organize health services in this area, as individuals' behaviour is shaped by their perceptions and the importance they attach to them. The aim of this study was to assess the self-perception of oral health, use and need for dentures in adults aged between 18 and 30 years, 35 and 44 years and 60 years and over, in the municipality of Porto Velho - RO, at the Osvaldo Piana Mixed Health Unit. The study used a questionnaire from the SB Brasil-2010 project on self-perception of oral health, use and need for dentures. It was found that 90% of young people aged 18 to 30, 85% of adults aged 35 to 44 and 65% of the elderly reported needing dental treatment. In terms of self-perception, 30% of young people, 40% of adults and 35% of the elderly were dissatisfied. With regard to the need for dentures, 10% of young people, 40% of adults and 55% of the elderly said they needed to use or replace them. There was a negative self-perception of oral health, especially among the elderly. The data on the use and need for dentures reinforces the importance of oral rehabilitation as a way of improving quality of life, especially in the elderly population. It is necessary to implement effective public policies aimed at promoting and rehabilitating oral health.
