Risk factors affecting the efficacy of open reduction and internal fixation in rib fractures

Open reduction and internal fixation is an important surgical approach for multiple rib fractures. This study aims to investigate key risk factors affecting surgical outcomes. A retrospective case-control study was conducted, collecting clinical data from 124 rib fracture patients. Patients were divided into three intervention groups: early intervention group (n=42), routine intervention group (n=52), and delayed intervention group (n=30), and factors affecting surgical outcomes were analyzed. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age >55 years, severe combined injuries, respiratory dysfunction, surgical delay >72 hours, thoracic instability, and hypoproteinemia were independent risk factors affecting rib fracture open reduction and internal fixation outcomes. The surgical complication rate was 23.4%, primarily including pulmonary infection, bleeding, and infection. Individualized assessment of patient risk factors, optimization of surgical timing, and perioperative management are crucial for improving rib fracture open reduction and internal fixation outcomes.

A retrospective case-control study was conducted, collecting clinical data from 124 rib fracture patients. Patients were divided into three intervention groups: early intervention group (n=42), routine intervention group (n=52), and delayed intervention group (n=30), and factors affecting surgical outcomes were analyzed. The surgical complication rate was 23.4%, primarily including pulmonary infection, bleeding, and infection. Individualized assessment of patient risk factors, optimization of surgical timing, and perioperative management are crucial for improving rib fracture open reduction and internal fixation outcomes.
