Introduction. In the context of global world trends in the development of higher education, there is a steady dynamics of increasing the volume of independent work of students and shifting the focus from the role of the teacher to the role of the learner. The main task of the teacher is to organize the learning process, within which the student shows his/her subject position, determines his/her individual educational needs and develops his/her abilities and potential. This aspect creates certain difficulties in the use of traditional scientific and methodological approaches to the training of specialists, which determines the need to search for new methods of organizing independent work in the university environment, including the introduction of innovative educational technologies. The aim of the study is to develop a technology for organizing independent work in the educational process of postgraduate medical school. Materials and methods. The empirical study involved 204 first-year students studying under the programs of training of scientific and pedagogical personnel of higher qualification on the basis of Sechenov University. All students were investigated using psychodiagnostic techniques aimed at determining personal readiness for independent work, as well as satisfaction with the organization of independent work in the conditions of the university. KEYWORDS Mathematical and statistical processing of the obtained results was carried out by methods of registration, ranking, quantitative and qualitative processing of experimental data. Results. The expression of indicators of self-organization of activity of postgraduate students of medical university was determined: low level of explicitness – plannedness (16,08), purposefulness (25,3); average level of manifestation was determined among such parameters as perseverance (21,08), fixation on structuring of activity (19,4), self-organization (12,5), orientation to the present (8,07). Discussion and Conclusions. In the process of the study the conclusions were obtained about the insufficient level of readiness of postgraduate students of a medical university for independent work, their dissatisfaction with the organization of independent activity, which was the basis for the development of structural and content components of the technology of organization of independent work in a higher educational institution. The results of the study can be used for implementation in the educational process of higher medical school
