A comprehensive on navigating climate challenges: Climate-smart strategies for enhancing crop resilience and food security

The increasing frequency of extreme weather events, rising temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, and surging carbon dioxide levels are putting global agriculture at risk. Farmers are facing dwindling crop yields, soil degradation, and mounting threats from pests and diseases. Traditional farming methods are proving insufficient against these rapidly changing conditions, calling for smarter, more resilient approaches to food production. This review dives deep into the pressing challenges facing modern agriculture and highlights innovative solutions rooted in climate-smart management. From selecting climate-resilient crop varieties and adopting conservation practices to leveraging non-conventional energy sources like solar-powered irrigation, the focus is on sustainable adaptation strategies. We explore integrated pest and nutrient management techniques, as well as advanced biotechnology approaches such as genetically modified seeds and hybrid varieties that offer a glimmer of hope. This paper also underscores the importance of a collective effort involving researchers, policymakers, and the agricultural community to navigate the complexities of climate change and secure the future of global food security.
