Comparative Test of Novel Fluorescent Optical Antennas for LED‐ and Laser‐Based Optical Wireless Communications (Advanced Optical Materials 13/2025)

Optical Wireless Communications Novel Optical Antennas based on three different Fluorescent Concentrators are realized and tested as receivers in both laser- and LED-based Optical Wireless Communication (OWC). Data rates larger than 70 Mb s−1 are achieved using simple NRZ-OOK modulation, which can be extended using more complex modulation schemes. The work is the first to highlight and characterize the efficiency of such devices across various OWC fields. More details can be found in article 2402367 by Jacopo Catani and co-workers.

Abstract

Optical Wireless Communications Novel Optical Antennas based on three different Fluorescent Concentrators are realized and tested as receivers in both laser- and LED-based Optical Wireless Communication (OWC). Data rates larger than 70 Mb s−1 are achieved using simple NRZ-OOK modulation, which can be extended using more complex modulation schemes. The work is the first to highlight and characterize the efficiency of such devices across various OWC fields. More details can be found in article 2402367 by Jacopo Catani and co-workers.
