Book Review: New World Veterinary Repertory, A modern homeopathic repertory adapted for animal patients, based on Boger-Boenninghausen's Repertory, with valuable additions from Kent and many others
Abstract: Background:New World Veterinary Repertory aims to bridge the gap between classical human repertories and the unique needs of veterinary homeopathy. Authored by Richard H. Pitcairn and Wendy Jensen, this repertory adapts established homeopathic principles for animal care. Aims:To evaluate the structure, content, and practical utility of New World Veterinary Repertory in the context of modern veterinary homeopathy. Methodology: A critical review of the repertory’s 39 chapters, with attention to its integration of classical sources like Boger-Boenninghausen's Characteristics Repertory and Kent's Repertory, and its adaptation for veterinary use. Results: The repertory offers a comprehensive and well-organized framework, featuring extensive rubrics, cross-references, and clear typography for remedy gradation. Its strength lies in synthesizing classical homeopathic knowledge with modern veterinary insights. However, the inclusion of human-derived mental and emotional rubrics and the lack of veterinary-specific clinical validation pose limitations in practical application. Conclusion:New World Veterinary Repertory is a valuable resource for veterinary homeopaths, offering both theoretical depth and practical guidance. Future editions could enhance its utility by incorporating more animal-specific behaviors and documented clinical cases to strengthen its applicability in veterinary practice.
