Methodology and research methods. When writing the article, the following methods were used: analysis of domestic and foreign scientific literature on the problem of identifying and developing students’ abilities. The works of theoretical directions in the study of the problem of giftedness were studied: D. B. Bogoyavlenskaya, L. S. Vygotsky, V. V. Davydov, J. Renzulli, P. Torrens, F. Galton, M. S. Egorova, T. M. Maryutina and others. Results of the study. To identify the potential abilities of gifted children, the spatial concept of R. V. Komarov was adopted. It most fully and at the same time succinctly reveals the structure of the phenomenon of giftedness, and includes a component of potential giftedness. The main problems of identifying abilities are associated with the multifaceted nature and complexity of the phenomenon of giftedness itself. The theoretical conclusions made as a result of the work suggest a shift in emphasis in the existing curriculum in favor of the individualization of educational programs. They also open up new opportunities for the use of such programs in the future and will be useful for teachers of schools and organizations of additional education, working on the development of students’ abilities, both as methodological support and as training materials for advanced training of labor (technology) teachers. Conclusion. In conclusion, it is concluded that an integrated approach to identifying children’s giftedness in the context of modern technological education is a complex process that requires taking into account many factors and conditions. It is aimed at creating a favorable environment for the learning and development of all students. To develop this approach, the main existing methods of diagnosing giftedness were considered, such as: observation, psychological research, test methods, experiment, identification of giftedness through competitive events, expert assessment.
