Значення економічного розвитку регіонів для зростання національної економіки

The article examines current trends and spatial features of the economic development of Ukraine’s regions during the full-scale war and their impact on the sustainable growth of the national economy. Regional development is considered a fundamental component of the country's socio-economic balance, as it is at the regional level that the foundations for expanding production capacity, employment, innovation activity, and tax revenues are formed. The degree of regional development balance directly affects the stability of the national economy, its resilience to crises, and its capacity for recovery. The focus of the analysis is on key indicators of regional economic activity: the number of active business entities, the number of employed workers, and the volume of sold products. A comparison of data from 2021 and 2023 made it possible to identify the impact of the war on the economic structure of regions, particularly the uneven distribution of losses and the shift of economic activity centers to the western part of the country. The most dynamic development was observed in Kyiv, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Rivne, and Volyn regions, whereas frontline and occupied territories experienced significant degradation of production potential. Methods of statistical, comparative, and graphical analysis were applied. Based on the findings, recommendations were proposed to overcome regional asymmetry, including support for relocated businesses, stimulation of domestic investment, infrastructure development, and modernization of regional policy oriented toward sustainable development. The study emphasizes that effective regional policy is essential for the competitiveness and long-term economic growth of Ukraine.
