Shape Uniformity Analysis of Injection Molded Cooling Fan Using Laser Camera

This paper describes quality uniformity inspection of injection molded parts based on 3D laser camera. The shape uniformity of the automotive cooling fan is an important quality control indicator. An algorithm for automatically measuring the groove width and depth of the injection molded cooling fan is presented and its practicality was evaluated. As result of computer simulation, it was confirmed that the measured two shape parameters of cooling fan can be applied to vision inspection for the classification of defective parts or used as a reliability indicator for quality control.
