Adaptive Online Service Deployment Control in Competitive Satellite Edge Computing for MegaLEO Constellations

Satellite edge computing (SEC) is emerging as a promising 6G next-generation communication technology. SEC requires real-time service control due to dynamic resource balancing needs and rapid orbital movement. However the resource allocation competition on the satellites has been often overlooked, which can lead to significant queueing delay as demonstrated in this letter. Therefore, a G/D/1 queueing based SEC model and Dynamic Adaptive Congestion Control Algorithm (DACCA) are proposed to address these challenges. Compared to existing static policies, the proposed DACCA results in a decrease in average end-to-end delay, which reaches 0.045 (± 0.016) s when applied with the “Nearest” policy.
