Aggregated CoO for Selective CO 2 Electroreduction to CH 3 OH

Abstract In this work, an aggregated CoO with a unique structure was prepared, which showed the ability of high‐activity electrochemical reduction of CO 2 to produce methanol. In 0.1 M KHCO 3 aqueous solution at −0.85 V, the highest yield of methanol generation was 37.6 mmol g −1 h −1 , and the highest Faraday efficiency (FE) was 68%, with overpotential as low as 230 mV. The continuous test results show that the catalyst has certain stability. Meanwhile, we found that compared with the non‐aggregated structure, the aggregated structure of CoO nanoparticles was conducive to the infiltration, enrichment, adsorption, and reaction of CO 2 in the catalyst, thus enhancing the CO 2 electroreduction reactivity.
