Sheet‐Like CuCo 2 O 4 −Catalyzed Efficient Aza‐Michael Addition Reactions of Aromatic Amines to Conjugated Alkenes

Abstract The design of efficient catalyst for the aza‐Michael addition of aromatic amines to conjugated alkenes is a crucial area in organic synthesis. This work employs the fabrication of sheet‐like CuCo ₂ O ₄ material as effective heterogeneous catalyst for efficient aza‐Michale addition reactions. The CuCo ₂ O ₄ catalyst was prepared via oxalate decomposition method and extensively characterized using various characterization techniques such as powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X‐ray (EDX), UV–visible spectroscopy, fluorescence, and so forth. The unique sheet‐like morphology of CuCo ₂ O ₄ facilitates a high surface area and exceptional electronic properties, which significantly enhance its catalytic applicability. The catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic performance, enabling the aza‐Michael addition of various aromatic amines to conjugated alkenes under mild conditions, with high yields (83%–99%). Moreover, the CuCo ₂ O ₄ catalyst showed excellent stability and reusability, retaining its catalytic activity over multiple cycles. This study underscores the potential of CuCo ₂ O ₄ as a sustainable, highly effective, cost‐effective, nontoxic, and reusable catalyst for aza‐Michael reactions of aromatic amines, contributing to the efficient synthesis of functionalized aromatic amines for applications in pharmaceuticals and materials science.
