THE IMPACT OF INNOVATIVE LEADERSHIP ON GREEN BEHAVIOR OF EMPLOYEES IN PALESTINIAN UNIVERSITIES: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL CAPITAL

The study aimed to test the effect of creative leadership on green behavior among employees in Palestinian universities, with psychological capital as an intervening variable. The study relied on the quantitative approach, as the study used a structured questionnaire to collect data on the perceptions and behaviors of respondents regarding the study variables. The study population consisted of all academic and administrative employees in nine Palestinian universities, with a total of 6559 employees (3542 academics and 3017 administrators). The stratified random sampling method was used to ensure proportional representation of each university and employee category (academic and administrative). The required sample size was determined to be 364 employees .The results of the study revealed a significant positive relationship between creative leadership and green behavior among employees. Moreover, it was found that creative leadership significantly enhances psychological capital, which in turn positively affected green behavior. The mediating role of psychological capital was confirmed, indicating that creative leadership affects green behavior directly and indirectly through psychological capital.Based on the findings, the study recommended that university administration and policy makers focus on promoting creative leadership practices and enhancing psychological capital to support sustainable practices. It also recommended that future research should explore these dynamics across different contexts and over longer periods to comprehensively understand the long-term effects of creative leadership on green behavior .
