A finiteness theorem for 2-towers of number fields

We show that if a 2-tower ( ) 0 of number fields does not contain infinitely many Galois quartic extensions, then the structure of the lattice of subfields of the union of the is completely determined by studying the subfields of up to some degree.

Abstract

We show that if a 2-tower ( ) 0 of number fields does not contain infinitely many Galois quartic extensions, then the structure of the lattice of subfields of the union of the is completely determined by studying the subfields of up to some degree.
