Dens invaginatus and endodontic therapy protocols: literature review
Review endodontic protocols for dens invaginatus and their postoperative results. Case report papers available in the PubMed database published from 2019 to 2022, were included. Of the 15 studies included, the most affected teeth were the upper lateral incisors and all cases were diagnosed as periodontitis/periapical abscess, with the presence of a periradicular lesion. Conventional endodontics was the most used approach, with the aid of cone beam computed tomography, dental operating microscope and mechanized instrumentation. Follow-up ranged from six to 36 months and in all cases, absence of signs and symptoms and regression of the periradicular lesion with new bone formation were observed. The treatment of dens invaginatus requires accurate diagnosis, planning and endodontic technologies to achieve therapeutic success.
