Thoracic duct embolisation for treatment of chyle leakage after cervical oncologic surgery
Chylous fistula (CF) due to lymphatic lesions is one of the rare complications that may develop after cervical surgery. There are some case reports on lymphatic embolisation performed in cases of CF after oncologic surgery. We report a case of cervical CF after oncologic surgery that was treated by thoracic duct embolisation in the male older patient. The amount of chyle drainage was >1000 mL/24 hours without success in conservative treatment, and chylous leakage ceased after percutaneous thoracic duct embolisation. Thoracic duct embolisation is an effective and safe treatment option for CF resulting from cervical oncologic surgeries.
