Reconstruction of the Gospel narrative in O. Pavlov's short story "End of the Century" (towards the motivic structure of the narrative)
The aim of this study is to reconstruct the Gospel narrative of the last days of Christ's earthly life in the artistic world of the modern realist O. Pavlov. Using the writer's short story "End of the Century" (1996), an analysis of the plot-motif structure of the work is carried out, and a complex of motifs (as plot units) constructing the well-known biblical story is revealed. Thus, the following motifs are identified in the artistic narrative: betrayal, scourging, crucifixion, ablution, recognition, resurrection. The eschatological motif also becomes a through-line in the author's narrative. The scientific novelty of the research lies in identifying the features of the artistic interpretation of the Gospel tale, which is embedded in the structure of the author's myth. Particular attention in this regard is paid to the image of the "naked man" (as "poor in spirit"), deprived of his own history, identity, the very possibility of being justified, but having a different perspective in the existential (Christian) dimension. As a result of the study, it was found that the plot of the short story of a modern writer at the plot-motif and figurative levels of narration correlates with the biblical tradition. Motivic and mythopoetic analysis of the work made it possible to identify the typological proximity of the images of the homeless person (in the author's narration) and Christ as beneficent about the fates of the rejected.
