The category of time in Lorik Fedoseev’s children’s drawing “Direct Hit on a House”, 1941

The study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of Lorik Fedoseev’s children’s drawing “Direct Hit on a House”, created during the Siege of Leningrad, by examining various aspects of the category of time. The article analyzes the sources mentioning and reproducing this children’s drawing, provides an art-historical interpretation, and presents previously unknown facts about the young author’s biography. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that the analysis of the children’s drawing includes the chronological framework from the moment the drawing was created to its existence and contemporary representation. Biographical information about the author of the drawing is introduced into scientific discourse for the first time. The study demonstrates the spatio-temporal uniqueness of Lorik Fedoseev’s children’s drawing “Direct Hit on a House” and examines its representative function in the historical context of its time. Information about the drawing is clarified. Numerous copies are identified, noticeably differing from the original in color schemes, compositional arrangement of objects, and changes in proportions. Thanks to archival documents, some facts of the young author’s biography are presented as part of the history of his family and the history of besieged Leningrad. Using Lorik Fedoseev’s drawing as an example, the problem of preservation and attribution of children’s drawings from the Siege of Leningrad, which has been little studied, is demonstrated.
