Strategic Spatial Segregation in Silicon Photoelectrodes: Decoupling Catalytic and Optical Functions for High‐Efficiency Solar Water Splitting
High-Efficiency Solar Water Splitting Spatial segregation revolutionizes silicon photoelectrodes by decoupling catalytic and optical functions. In article number 2400644, Ki Min Nam, Han-Don Um, and co-workers present strategically engineered catalyst wires surrounded by tapered microwire arrays that enable efficient hydrogen evolution while maximizing light absorption (96.5%). This innovative architecture overcomes traditional trade-offs, establishing a new paradigm for high-efficiency solar water splitting systems with minimal reflection losses and enhanced charge transport.
