Um estudo sobre o diagnóstico do autismo: entre a idealização da criança perfeita e as expectativas para o futuro escolar

The theme of this study is: A study on the diagnosis of autism: between the idealization of the perfect child and expectations for the future at school. Although it is a subject that has been taking on great proportions and discussions, there is still little knowledge about the reality behind the diagnosis in families. The main aim of this study was to analyze how the process of family acceptance of an autism diagnosis interfaces with the teacher's relationship with this autistic student. The methodology was based on qualitative, bibliographical and field research. Based on authors such as Gaiato (2019), Pereira and Brito (2022), Vidal, Andrade, Silva (2022). As a data instrument, a questionnaire was used to understand a little about the reality of these families, the instrument was sent through a WhatsApp group that is made up of several mothers who have children with ASD. The participants were six people from the TEAmo Picos Project in the city of Picos do Piauí, as well as two from the city of Wall Ferraz do Piauí and one through personal contact by the researcher. This data was collected by returning the questionnaires and analyzing them. There are major battles faced by those responsible for accepting ASD, as well as the challenges and anxieties about including these children in school. As a result, it is understood that there are major battles faced by those responsible for accepting ASD. It is therefore important to have knowledge about the reality of families when they have a diagnosis in order to help and assist them with their needs, which is the duty of the State in partnership with the services and institutions that can influence this process from acceptance to the "fight" for dignified living conditions for people with ASD.
