THE EFFECT OF THE MICROSTRUCTURE ON THE EFFICIENCY OF SHAPED CHARGES OBTAINED VIA POWDER METALLURGY

The presented study is focused on the investigations of the microstructure of shaped charges produced through powder metallurgy using different mixture of tungsten and copper powders. The powders were obtained using different methods as well as the final products were obtained using various processes to ensure best combinations leading to the object with suitable properties. The performed studies were done using the scanning electron microscope equipped with the energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy system (EDS). The grain size, distribution of the individual elements and their content were analyzed. The research demonstrated the microstructural differences between obtained shaped charges. It is believed that optimizing the microstructure can significantly enhance the penetration capabilities of shaped charges, making them more effective in military and industrial applications. Future work aims to further refine these parameters to achieve even greater performance.
