Application of self-organizing control systems to optimize processes within complex dynamic systems used in mining operations
Digitalization and automation of mining processes is becoming a key factor in raising the efficiency and sustainability of the mining industry. This research focuses on analyzing the integration of digital technologies and distributed control systems for optimization of lithium mining in the Russian Federation. The objective of the work is to design a holistic architecture of a digital control system for lithium mining and concentration processes, and to evaluate its impact on the performance, safety and environmental sustainability. The research methodology includes analysis of Big Data collected from sensors and detectors, modeling of the production processes, as well as a technical and economic assessment of the efficiency of digital solutions. Data on the key performance indicators from Russian lithium deposits for 2020-2023 serve as the empirical basis. The results show that introduction of a digital control system can increase the yield of commercial lithium by 15-25%, while decreasing the mining and processing costs by up to 30% and the production time by 20%. At the same time, a 15-20% reduction in carbon footprint and a 40-50% increase in the safety level are achieved. The results obtained are of high theoretical and practical significance, offering prospects for scaling up digital solutions to other rare earth minerals and ensuring sustainable development of the Russian mining industry
