"The Role of a Visual-Cue-Based E-Learning Environment in Enhancing the Motivation of Students with Disabilities in the Arab Republic of Egypt"
The current research aimed to explore the role of an e-learning environment basedon visual cues in increasing the motivation of deaf students at the elementary stage. Theresearch sample consisted of 18 students, who were equally and randomly divided intotwo groups. In light of the objectives the research sought to achieve, the current studyrelied on: The Descriptive-Analytical Method: This was used to review previous studiesand relevant Arabic and foreign references concerning the variables of the currentresearch, to prepare the theoretical framework, and to develop the research tools andthe e-learning environment based on visual cues. The Experimental Method: This wasused to investigate the role of the e-learning environment based on visual cues (as anindependent variable) in increasing the motivation to learn (as a dependent variable)among deaf students. The researcher designed an experimental treatment based onvisual cues and divided the research sample into two groups: a control group and anexperimental group. The control group was taught without using visual cues, while theexperimental group was exposed to the e-learning environment based on visual cues.A motivation scale for learning was prepared, and non-parametric statistical methodswere used due to the small sample size, including the Wilcoxon test for related groups,to calculate the significance of the difference between the mean scores of the controland experimental groups in the pre- and post-application of the motivation scale forlearning mathematics. The research results revealed the effectiveness of an e-learning environment basedon visual cues in increasing the motivation of deaf students to learn mathematics, asthere were statistically significant differences in the post-application of the motivationscale. The research recommends the importance of utilizing cues in teaching studentswith special needs, especially the deaf.
