Designing, Implementation, and Evaluation of Virtual Infertility Training for Midwifery Graduates for the Management and Treatment of Infertility During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Introduction: Infertility causes a series of social, cultural, emotional, and psychological complications in a person’s life. Midwives, along with other members of the treatment team, can play an important role in the management and treatment of infertility. The current study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate a virtual infertility training course for midwifery graduates to manage infertility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This semi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design was conducted on the midwifery graduates of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in 2021. The intervention was performed in six steps based on the ASSURE model, and its effectiveness was investigated with the Kirkpatrick model. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS software using means, standard deviations, and the chi-square test. Results: All the participants were female and had a bachelor’s degree in midwifery. They had a favorable reaction to the professors, general programs, and content but an unfavorable reaction to the equipment. Moreover, the level of knowledge and skills of the participants improved at the end of the virtual course. Conclusion: The results of this study confirmed that designing, implementing, and evaluating a virtual course of infertility training for midwifery graduates was effective in knowledge and skills for managing and treating infertility during the COVID-19 pandemic.
