Scientific research as a means of improving the criminal law (on the example of the discussion of the draft Criminal Code of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic of 1922)

The adoption of new laws always requires their discussion by representatives of the scientific community and law enforcement agencies. The place for such a discussion is provided by media. One of these media was the “Weekly of Soviet Justice”. An analysis of the journal’s articles for 1922 showed that most of them are devoted to the consideration of the draft Criminal Code of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (1922). Most of the articles discussed on the pages of the journal are relevant today, and just like a century ago, they are debatable. The main conclusion is that even if the existing political and economic system is broken, it is impossible to build a new legal system without borrowing the experience of previous generations.
