Abstract

Down Syndrome is a genetic condition that requires special attention due to the effects it produces on intellectual development and physical functionalities, to which are added in some cases different associated pathologies. The severity is variable and determines the degree of autonomy and learning capacity. In this sense, and having as a premise the benefits for most cases of the inclusive school, this article is the result of the work developed with eight primary school students with Down Syndrome, the interaction with teachers, school and families. Not minimizing the participation of any of the participants in the learning process, the present work underlines the fundamental role of Educational Psychology, as a support tool for teachers, as it helps them to understand and solve the complex phenomena inherent to the teaching and learning process of students with Down Syndrome. The research was carried out in a logic of descriptive research on the contribution of Educational Psychology with the concern of optimizing learning and well-being of students.
