Mental-Health Study facing Covid-19 Considering the Stress Level and Anxiety of Students
The global appearance of the new virus known as Covid-19 has affected students' mental health, who observe the mortality rate from this new virus. One sector that needs to be evaluated from a mental health perspective is the education sector. The aim of this study was to identify and characterize the levels of anxiety and stress experienced by 1,407 university students from 11 Mexican universities during the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology used is based on the Interaction Anxiety Scale, which measures anxiety, and the third version of the Stress Assessment Questionnaire. We collected responses from universities in different states of Mexico. Instrumental confidence levels were measured using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, yielding 0.957 and 0.859 for anxiety and stress, respectively. We use Ward´s method to generate six clusters with similar student characteristics. The fifth cluster is the most affected group, with a high level of stress and moderate anxiety.
