Botanical Interventions For PCOS: A Phytochemical Perspective

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine-metabolic disorder affecting women of reproductive age, characterized by hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance, and chronic inflammation. Conventional treatments often involve pharmacological agents that may pose side effects and offer limited long-term solutions. In recent years, plant-derived bioactive compounds have emerged as promising alternatives due to their natural origin, safety profile, and multifaceted therapeutic properties. This review explores the potential of various medicinal plants and their active constituents in modulating key pathological features of PCOS. Emphasis is placed on the mechanisms through which these compounds influence hormonal regulation, metabolic balance, and ovarian morphology. The findings suggest that integrating plant-based bioactive could offer a complementary strategy for effective PCOS management.
