Design and Validation of Avionics System on 122 mm Rocket Caliber

A rocket’s payload has a specific requirement before integration. The specifications are weight, dimension, flight's mission, and avoiding electromagnetic interference between systems. A compromise between the design rocket's and the payload rocket's manufacturing divisions is needed. The avionic system of this payload should be tested before and after integration on the 122mm rocket caliber. The avionic system has included an IMU, a navigation system, and a radio transceiver. The system can work as designed by testing each and all parts together. The S11 antenna measurement results for the avionic system without EMI absorber material have shown a return loss of -18 dB at a frequency of 917 MHz. In comparison, the S11 antenna measurement for the avionic system with EMI absorber material has shown a lower value of -33 dB at a frequency of 910 MHz, which is similar to the flight test data and the simulation results.

Abstract

A rocket’s payload has a specific requirement before integration. The specifications are weight, dimension, flight's mission, and avoiding electromagnetic interference between systems. A compromise between the design rocket's and the payload rocket's manufacturing divisions is needed. The avionic system of this payload should be tested before and after integration on the 122mm rocket caliber. The avionic system has included an IMU, a navigation system, and a radio transceiver. The system can work as designed by testing each and all parts together.
