ON SOME BASIC LEXEMES FROM THE RECHANE KINSHIP TERMINOLOGY

Traditionally, the dialects located outside our state borders are defined as "mixed" dialects. The reason for this is that they are influenced by the official language of the country within which borders they are located, or by neighboring languages of important significance to the community from a religious, social or other point of view. The "mixed" character of the territorial speech is most noticeable at the lexical level, since the lexical paradigm of the dialect is the one that changes the fastest, because it is most susceptible to external influences, which allows politically biased speculations, with a predominance of one or another ethnic, national or religious nature, about the ethnicity of the population. Such is the situation with the dialect of the village of Rechane, Prizren region, located in the Sredska Zhupa district, Republic of Kosovo – on the western border of the Bulgarian linguistic territory, which is the object of analysis in this article. That is why it is of particular importance, through the study of the archaic base lexicon found in the Rechanian speech from a synchronic point of view, to prove at the lexical level its belonging to the Bulgarian language continuum and thus substantiate the conclusions made about the location of the western border of our linguistic territory. This is precisely the purpose of this article, the main subject of study of which are some basic terms of kinship terminology. Emphasis is placed on differential vocabulary, distinguishing Bulgarian from other Slavic languages, or on words with a pan-Slavic distribution, containing typically Bulgarian phonetic specifics. The presented analysis of the lexical system of the speech of the village of Rechane, Prizren region, is based on material personally collected by the author during the conduct of undergraduate courses in Bulgarian language, literature, history and culture for the Bulgarian minority there in the period 2015–2019.
