Effect of weed management practices on rice under transplanted condition in Bastar region

A field experiment was conducted during the Kharif season 2023 at Research cum Instructional Farm Shaheed Gundadhoor College of Agriculture and Research Station Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, to study the “Effect of Weed Management Practices on Rice Under Transplanted Condition in Bastar Region” in Randomized Block Design using nine treatments which were replicated in three times. The results obtained under Weed free (T2) revealed significantly higher growth parameters viz., plant height, number of tillers, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, crop growth rate, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate and yield attributing characters viz., length of panicles, total number of grains panicle-1. Data regarding under weed parameter the treatment T2 (Weed free) was recorded significantly lowest in total weed density and total weed dry weight. In case of weed control efficiency the treatment T2 (Weed free) was recorded significantly highest while the treatment T1 (Weed check) was recorded highest in weed index. The statistically highest grain yield, straw yield and harvest index was recorded under treatment T2 (Weed free) followed by treatment T7 (pre emergence + mechanical weeding at 25 and 50 DAT). In the case of highest cost of cultivation and gross return was recorded under treatment T2 (Weed free) while net return was recorded under treatment T7 (pre emergence + mechanical weeding at 25 and 50 DAT) and B: C ratio was obtained treatment T5 (Mechanical weeding at 25 and 50 DAT).
