Elucidating the physicochemical processes of light-activated rotary motors embedded in lipid membranes
In briefThis study explores the integration of light-driven molecular rotary motors into synthetic lipid membranes, providing detailed insights into their behavior at the molecular level.By characterizing motor positioning, orientation, and interactions within the membrane, as well as assessing the impact on membrane properties like fluidity and tension, the findings offer a foundation for future biological applications of molecular machines.Light-triggered membrane deformations and area expansion further highlight the potential for these systems in advancing therapeutic and bioengineering technologies.
