El valor de la literatura para la psicoterapia
In addition to the knowledge and instruction required to practice psychotherapy based on introspection and personality review, it is proposed that literature serves as a vast reservoir of knowledge. Poets glimpse and uncover insights from what may remain obscure or invisible to most people, and their work can contribute to the psychotherapist’s formation and grounding in reality. It is suggested, then, that the contribution of literature can be appreciated as far superior to what philosophy typically offers. Unlike philosophy, which is often an unrealistic outcome of observing the world and people, literature is not a speculative account of human reality. By referring to speculation,I also mean to discourage the heavy philosophical content present in Freud’s theoretical framework and that of other traditional psychoanalysts
