El cambio, lo implícito y la competencia terapéutica
This work aims to understand the role of change in psychotherapeutic processes, what aspects can promote or hinder it and what role therapists have within it. From a relational perspective, change will be based on the bond and exchange between patient and therapist, above all, at an implicit level. This level can be seen in the coordination and/or disruption of the dyad as a way to predict change. These regulations occur bidirectionally and constantly throughout the entire process and frame the therapeutic relationship. The alliance, uniqueness and quality of the bond is a fundamental pillar to promote change. Therefore, it is relevant to talk about the therapeutic competence, which is an implicit capacity of the therapist to be able provide a safe and caring space to understand and connect with what is hurting their patient. This ability is based on the idea of attuning to the patient’s subjective pain, in order to be able to approach him, accompany him in his reframing and, eventually, consolidate the change. Finally, the implicit and its recognition, whether from intonation, posture or facial expressions, is an entry point to understand the patient’s problems, to be able to tune them from other places beyond the verbal and to be able to accompany them on the path of subjective change.
