Bamboo-Based Hard Carbon as a High-Performance Anode Material for Sodium-Ion Batteries
Herein, bamboo-based hard carbon (BHC) is produced through delignification and carbonization process and used as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Removing lignin and hemicellulose disrupts the internal structure of bamboo and provides more free radicals, and the high-temperature carbonization provides abundant closed micropores for BHCs. The closed micropores of BHCs increased the sodium storage capacity in the plateau region. The BHCs carbonized at 1300 °C as anode in SIBs exhibits a first discharge capacity of 335.12 mAh g −1 at 0.05 C with an initial coulombic efficiency of 88.52%, and a capacity retention of 89.46% after 200 cycles at 0.2 C. These results demonstrates that the BHCs anode materials have excellent electrochemical performance in SIBs. This work provides a simple method to develop biomass-derived bamboo-based hard carbon as anode materials for SIBs.
