Abstract

All Moroccan constitutions have placed the royal institution in a prominent position at the level of the constitutional structure and given it a status that makes the king a reference, axis, judge, protector, guarantor and guide. The royal speech is the highest source for expressing the will of the people, and a mechanism for bringing political practice from theory to reality, and matching it with the concerns of citizens. This study seeks to study the words and expressions in the text of the royal speech on the occasion of the Throne Day, July 30, 2012, by examining the semantic commonality or semantic difference, as well as examining the functions of these words and expressions in the structure of this speech (their position in the speech, their specific meaning, their functions, and their political, social and psychological dimensions); since studying any speech requires studying the language that employs it, especially in its lexical aspects. The importance of this study lies in revealing the nature of the lexicon employed in the royal speech, and aims to demonstrate the importance of the lexical study in analyzing the political discourse. This research is based on addressing a central problem related to the nature of the use of the lexicon in the political discourse and its importance in the structure of this discourse. This problem can be formulated as follows:What are the dimensions of the significance of the use of the lexicon in the royal speech on the occasion of Throne Day, July 30, 2012?In completing this research, we will rely on a descriptive analytical approach in inventorying, classifying and analyzing the vocabulary of the lexicon in the royal high speech..
