THE IMPACT OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING PROGRAM ON DEVELOPING CHILDREN’S MORAL RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE AQUATIC ECOSYSTEMS

The risks of climate change have become one of the most prominent phenomena affecting contemporary societies in all countries threatening the lives of millions of individuals around the world.Science has proven that incorrect human behavior is the primary cause of climate change. Therefore this research aims to study the impact of an environmental training program on developing children's ethical responsibility toward sustainable aquatic ecosystems. To achieve this goal a sample of 60 children enrolled in two government kindergartens () and () in Baghdad Governorate was selected. The training program prepared by the researcher was applied to them along with a questionnaire tool to measure the level of environmental awareness among the children in the research sample after the implementation of the program. The questionnaire included two dimensions: the first dimension consisted of seven items about environmental awareness while the second dimension included five items about ethical responsibility toward the aquatic environment. After analyzing the results the research concluded that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-test for the ethical responsibility standard toward the aquatic environment in favor of the experimental group as a result of their exposure to the training program.
