Diagnosis of a congenital nodule labelled pigmented epithelioid melanocytoma unconfirmed by recent molecular biology tools
A newborn presented with an asymptomatic occipital bluish-black nodule measuring 20 ×10mm, with two ipsilateral pathological occipital lymph nodes. The nodule slowly increased in size, as shown in Fig. 1(a). The girl was born prematurely at 34 weeks of amenorrhea due to preeclampsia, without family history of cancer. Echography at 4 months revealed a mass with microcalcifications and peripheral hypervascularization, while MRI showed a bilobed intradermal mass. Radiographs of skull and chest were normal.
