OR3-19 | Outcomes of Acute Mitral Regurgitation Due to Papillary Muscle Rupture: A Comparison Between Mechanical Circulatory Support Using Impella Versus Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
Acute mitral regurgitation (MR) caused by papillary muscle rupture is a critical complication requiring rapid hemodynamic stabilization and surgical intervention. Mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices, such as intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Impella, are commonly used to enhance cardiac output and lower afterload. However, comparative data on the effectiveness of these devices in this high-risk population remain limited.
